NEPAL GRAND MOM

Thinking about Nepal and the earthquake(s) … I reviewed pictures of our Trek to Machupuchare in 2005/06. The woman pictured here is the mother of the guide who led Til’s  (broken-leg) evacuation from middle camp. It was at her home we stopped for a break from the arduous 6 1/2 hour trek to the nearest village with vehicle access.  This woman cooked lunch for all of us (three sherpas, her son, Tilly & I).  Even though the guide included this in his fees, we left a little something more out of gratitude. I hope that she and her family are OK.
